Marianne Cook-Martin, BA, MACP, CCC

Registered Psychotherapist

For 25 years I dedicated myself to serving as a Paramedic. It was this experience which brought me to becoming a Psychotherapist. My personal journey as a mom, wife, first responder, and friend, has sparked my passion to help individuals work through life’s various transitions including infertility, caregiver burnout, trauma, and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). I have a passion for working with first responders and their families and with our younger population including children and teens (age 8 and up) helping them navigate their unique challenges.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the CRPO and completed my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I’m also a Blue Cross Provider and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) #11246427.

In sessions, I provide a safe and confidential environment where you have a place to land, share what needs to be shared, and explore what comes up. I use a trauma-informed approach, drawing on various modalities including Internal Family Systems, EMDR, and Sandtray Therapy, and tailoring my approach to meet each person’s needs. I have a special interest in working with individuals experiencing trauma, grief, compassion fatigue, and life transitions, as well as athletes and the struggles they face. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, grief, self-harm and suicidal thoughts, self-esteem concerns, and identity.

I strongly believe in the power of a warm, welcoming presence which can gently open the door to meaningful conversation. I have my own lived experiences, and although they are different from yours, this understanding fuels my empathy – a power I strongly believe in. Everyone’s story is unique and their own, and it would be my privilege to explore your story with you.
