Starr Hughes

Counselling Intern

Starr is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with CRPO (#22717) and a graduate student in Counselling Psychology with a B.A. Honours in Psychology. Her certifications include Motivational Interviewing, Motivational Interviewing for Addictions, Myer-Briggs Type Indicator, Strong Interest Inventory and Applied Suicide Intervention Skill Training. Starr has both personal, family, and professional experience in navigating significant life transitions and building resilience. During her 22-year military career she provided career transitioning services, emphasizing compassion, and promoting the interests and well-being of fellow members.

Starr welcomes adults, young adults, youth, veterans, military members, women, and neurodivergent individuals. She works with a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, substance use challenges, relationship challenges, life transitions, identity exploration, self-esteem, and questions of meaning and purpose. Depending on client needs, Starr is keen to integrate cognitive, emotional, and relational modalities with mindfulness and artistic processes.
